After surfing RV forums for the last couple of months it’s clear that an RVer is first known by “The Rig”. In my case, as of August 1, 2016, I don’t have a rig, but it’s on order and I hope to be on the road by the middle of August. But here’s the plan:
2017 Arctic Fox 27-5L http://northwoodmfg.com/arctic-fox-2/arctic-fox-27-5l/
Options: 2nd A/C, central vac, 50 amp service, 5.5 Onan Gold LP generator, 100 watt solar panel, 4 point leveling system, rear view camera
Video: Arctic Fox 27-5L video
Picked up the Arctic Fox 27-5L today from the dealer. Official name: The Beast.
2016 Chevy Silverado 3500HD; double cab, 2WD long box, 6.6L V8 DuraMax diesel turbo, Allison 6 speed auto, MyLink radio, WT convenience pkg, SiriusXM satellite radio
The truck arrived yesterday. Road tested up to Ellinger, TX this morning. Never driven a diesel, never driven anything that big. But overall, not bad. A little rough over bumps, and the acceleration not what I’m used to, but I think it will do the job for which it is intended. And having it’s own WiFi hotspot is pretty darn cool. Ditto the 36 gal fuel tank, which should give almost a 600 mile range (before towing anything).
